Vale, a mining company headquartered in Brazil, has begun to resume operations at its USD $3 billion   Onça Puma nickel mining complex was put on hold early in September.

Prior to the injunction, the Onça Puma complex produced 7,100 tons of nickel in the third quarter of 2017. This was a 29% rise compared with the prior three-month period, and up 7.6% from the third quarter of 2016. As Brazil holds nearly 13% of the world’s nickel reserves, Onça Puma accounts for about 11% of Vale’s nickel production.
